Nowadays, saving a few bucks here and there is important for everyone.  But sometimes you need to do a little more than just cutting back on the expensive clothes or impulse buys. Here are some great and unusual ways to save money and make your wallet happy in the process.

Use less water when flushing the toilet (From: US News)

A good tip from the money page at US News says to fill an old plastic bottle with sand, reseal it and place it in the tank of your toilet. This can save you about a gallon every time you flush, which will lower your water bill.

Hoard those ketchup packets! (From: Bankrate)

On the occasions when you do head out for fast food, ask for some extra condiment packets and bring them home. Save up a large enough collection and you won’t have to worry about buying the large bottles in the store.

Measure everything (From: Saving Advice)

Saving Advice gives a great list of things that can be measured-out so that you use less of it and, therefore, save money by not having to buy it as often.

Turn the oven off (From: MSN UK)

MSN UK Money suggests that you turn off the oven just before your food is done. The residual heat will cook it and doing this regularly will save some cash.  Oh and once you take the food out of the oven, turn it off and leave the door open slightly – this will heat up the kitchen a little bit so that you can then turn down the heat.
